STEP 2 – PAINTING SKY

To begin the painting, we will first focus on creating the most distant element, which, in this instance, is the distant clouds in a clear sky. We will start by using a 1-inch oval brush and adding colors. Apply the chosen colors to the upper part of the canvas, either starting with lighter tones and progressing towards darker tones as we move towards the horizon or vice versa, depending on the time of day. In this example, we will apply darker tones towards the top and lighter tones towards the horizon. Utilize a sweeping or dabbing motion with the brush to apply the colors. To achieve soft and fluffy clouds, incorporate white patches of color to specific sections of the sky. Using a clean and dry oval brush is recommended, gently adding the white clouds on top of the clear blue sky. Lastly, employ an ultrasoft blending brush to stroke the canvas lightly, smoothing out any brush strokes and blending everything.
Once the initial layer is finished, you may take a break or utilize a hairdryer to hasten the drying process before moving to the next step.
