WATER SPLASH PLASTIC WRAP ACRYLIC EFFECT

This acrylic effect is by far my favorite technique I have so far came up with. It utilizes bright acrylic paint colors, water and plastic wrap.

  • Before you being – a word of caution – this particular painting technique is messy! Make sure you are working in well prepared area and wearing appropriate working attire.
  • Choose colors of your choice and add them directly to your canvas. There is no right or wrong way to add the color. For this particular painting I chose to go with ultramarine blue on the sides, black, violet right next to the blue. In the middle I chose to go with white, mid yellow, and indian yellow.
  • to blend the colors use any paint brush of your choice. Begin with up and down motion and lightly blend all colors starting from the middle going outwards. In order to preserve clean blending, be sure to clean your paint brush in between each blending of each individual color.
  • Use clean water and oval brush to splash water on the freshly painted canvas surface. Add a little force into each splashing motion.
  • Crumble available plastic wrap into a ball, unravel it, and place it directly onto the splashed area on your canvas. You can utilize more than one plastic warp if needed.
  • The hard part is no complete and all you have to do is give it about 4-5 hours to dry.
  • After it is completely dry gently lift the plastic to reveal natural and beautiful design created by gravity, water and acrylic paint.
  • To top it off you can paint additional design to compliment this abstract painting. For this particular painting I chose to paint a silhouette of a tree.
